The Sea in his Work
Michel Hacala grew up in Socoa and Ciboure and worked as a fisherman before dedicating himself entirely to art.
Today, from his workshop between mountains and ocean in the Basque village of Sare, he paints and sculpts pieces inspired by maritime life.
His work blends realism with dreamlike colour, reflecting the fragile beauty of the coastline he grew up with.
The sea isn’t just a subject in Michel’s work. It’s part of his story.
