Architecture & The Tide

Carla grew up returning each summer to her grandparents’ house in Saint-Jean-de-Luz on the Basque coast.

Now training as an architect, she’s studying how climate change is reshaping that same coastline.

Her research focuses on Socoa, an area exposed to storms and erosion, where homes sit precariously close to the sea.

Through interviews with residents and studies of the landscape, she’s exploring how architecture might respond more thoughtfully to the forces shaping coastal life.
